How Hair Clips Can Prepare You For The End Of The World

Hair Claws To Get You Through Armageddon

“Well that’s rubbish,” grumbled my oldest daughter in disgust at the newspaper.

“Apparently the world is going to end on 21 December next year – my birthday!”

That is rough news.

So, we might as well get ourselves prepared. And gearing up for the end of the world reminds me of one of my childhood friends, Michelle.

The End Is Nigh!

When I was a teenager, I had a best friend, Michelle, who was a Mormon. We used to spend Saturday afternoons baking trays of lemon bars and then watching horror films on television, hiding behind the throw cushions.

One thing you could count on was Michelle’s mother always having a fully stocked larder.

In our area there were lots of Mormons, so their way of life wasn’t particularly unusual, and the cupboard full of food was one feature I thought was pretty awesome.

This practice meant that the devote Mormons in our neighbourhood were fully prepared for the end of the world.

This is when the true believers all get whisked up to heaven and the heathens like me will sadly perish.

Before the whisking, however, there is a pretty awful period where access to toilet roll, fizzy drinks and breakfast cereal is seriously restricted, looking at some of the supplies Michelle’s mother had stockpiled.

I may have misunderstood this, in my adolescent brain.

Maybe Michelle’s family consumed a lot of breakfast cereal and toilet roll, and buying these in bulk, along with the prosaic bottled water and tinned peaches critical for human survival, was an economical thing to do.

Or, Michelle’s mother may given some thought to what would be the most difficult for the family to live without during Armageddon, and shopped accordingly.

I bring it up because last night I did my own bit of stockpiling, with a t-shirt from GAP.

Possibly The World’s Best T-Shirt

Let me tell you how much I love this shirt.

Melissa's T-Shirt For The End Of The World

Nice shirt!

It is so good, I went back to the store after buying my first one just a few days before, gushing to bemused sales staff like a deranged teenager (or mad old woman, maybe) about how wonderful these shirts were.

I bought not just every colour it comes in, but seconds for emergency replacements when the first lot wear out.

I’m already anticipating the heartbreak I’ll have when these shirts fade and fray at the seams, and I can’t bear it.

I mention this because Stone Bridge has some designs that have this effect on people. They try their first u pin or hair claw and then come back a week or so later and buy five more.

Stocking up for Armageddon, maybe, but at least your hair will look good.

Petit Soldat Small French Hair Pins: Perfect For Finer Hair

These new French handmade hair pins are super for making a French pleat when your hair is maybe too fine for our classic French U Pin.

These little workers have short little bowed legs that will give your hair that extra little hold that finer hair needs, without the unhelpful length that larger U pins have.

I made a little video for you so you can see them in action.

Enjoy!

Headbands For Hair That Is Fine “But A Lot Of It”

Day 5 In Our Series About Choosing The Right Hair Accessories for Your Hair Type

Silk Wrapped Links Headband

Silk Wrapped Links Headband

Yesterday was about choosing hair accessories that are great for making a French pleat in my Recommended Hair Accessories video series.

Today I want to tell you about headbands and the features to look for to choose the right one specifically for your hair.

It’s easy to think headbands are all the same – you just stick them on your head and Bob’s your uncle.

No.

When you’ve got hair like yours, fine hair but masses of it, your headband needs to be solving a few control problems for you.

Either your concerned about holding back the fine hairs along your hairline and flyaways, or you have so much hair you need a band that is firm enough to hold your hair back off your face with some security.

Let’s have a look at some of the styles that have worked well in the consultations I’ve had recently with women who have hair like yours.

Enjoy!

Hair Accessories for Making A French Pleat When Your Hair is Fine “But A Lot Of It”

Day 4 In Our Series About Choosing The Right Hair Clips for Your Hair Type

Wearing a Beak hair clip in a French pleat style

Ficcare Innovation beak hair clip in a French pleat

Yesterday was about elastics and scrunchies in my Recommended Hair Clips video series. Today’s video is about hair accessories for making a French pleat and which ones work really well for you if you have lots and lots of fine hair.

What’s important about the information in today’s video is if you are able to master these techniques it will free you from only putting your hair up every day with hair claws.

This gives you a lot more options when you are styling your hair and the design options available to you really start to open up, which means doing your hair every morning becomes more fun and creative for you.

Trying different styling techniques also helps prevent you from getting stuck in a rut with your hair style. If you are styling your hair today the same way you did in 2001, I really recommend experimenting and playing around with your hair to update your appearance. This helps keep your overall look fresh, younger-looking and up to date.

Anyway, on with today’s video …

Other Hair Accessories Recommended For Your Hair Type

I don’t like to make my videos too long (even I can get bored of listening to myself talk about hair clips!), so there were two categories of hair accessories that I left out but which always work really well in my consultations with customers with hair like yours, which are combs and hair pins.

Again, getting confidence in the techniques behind these gives you a lot more freedom with your hair.

Claire and I believe in this so much that we are very happy to do video chats (via Skype – we’re “StoneBridgeUK” if you want to get in touch) or even personal consultations to help you really master this.

Ponytails And The Damage They Can Cause

Day 3 In Our Series About Choosing The Right Hair Clips for Your Hair Type

Yesterday was about hair claws in my Recommended Hair Clips video series. Today I want to talk to you about something I feel is really important: ponytails.

I do walk around looking at women’s hair and ponytails are such a great style, but so often done wrong.

This isn’t their fault. If you don’t know, you can’t make good choices, right?

Either, because these women can’t see the back of their head (well, they don’t look in the mirror) they choose really scrubby, icky elastics or they use elastics that actually cut into and break their hair.

Today’s video will give you the knowledge you need to make good choices that will not only give you a grown up, smart looking ponytail but more importantly you won’t damage your hair.
